This painting I think treads right on the line between classical and contemporary still life. Very traditional execution, but perhaps a more contemporary point of view. Yes, I'm sort of preoccupied with oranges, lately. They're just amazing.
About Timothy Jones
Timothy Jones spent his first 14 years in Alaska, where he developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of the Alaskan landscape and a love for making art. The family moved to Arkansas, where he earned bachelor's and master's degrees in fine art. Since 2004, after a number of years as a designer and illustrator, Tim has been building a portfolio primarily of classical realist still life painting. He is fortunate to have lived near and studied with a few well-known realist painters.His art has received local, regional and national recognition in shows and competitions such as those of the Art Renewal Center and Oil Painters of America. He now lives with his family in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he paints and teaches a classical art...

I come back to this site again and again just to look at this painting. Also the painting of the oak leaf. They are both so exceptionally beautiful. I sometimes wish this one weren't sold already so that I could consider buying the original. I know from your painting blog that in the years since you've moved on and are painting other kinds of work, all great, but this one is an absolute stand-out.
